Its difficult. Usually the females are larger, rounder and have duller colors. Since danios don't have much coloring sometimes it can be hard to tell. Also, since they tend to eat a lot they can also be pretty fat
Adult males have fine red lines running the length of their body between the thicker blue lines, and golden high lights. Adult females have silvery high lights to their bodies.
