So it’s been a little over a month since I got my silver arowana so I thought I’d share some pictures. It’s going quite well…I’ve noticed some fin issues so I try to keep it constant with a 10% water change every week and vacuum the gravel. Feeding-wise, I’ve stuck with the dried shrimp with about 4-7 pieces a day which he still attacks with much aggression. Here’s a picture of him I got in mid-action. I was trying to snap another shot of him but he didn’t like it and in a flash (and a splash) he was on the other end of the tank. pretty amazing. |

id’ say about 6-7″ still. i wonder how long it’ll be before i have to get another tank for him.
Hi,
i’m silver arowana owner. Now i realize that i may need larger tank since the fish size will increase within few months. Seriously.
Now, the fish size is about 10-inch. I put his photos on my blog.
It is amazing to watch it swimming, gracefully.
Have a nice day. 🙂
mine isaboutthat big and i think somethings wrongwith him.
his always on top of thewater not doing anything.
thiswas only a few days after i gave him goldfish..
isthere a cure or its juss his environment?
reply back ineed to know plz
aro’s naturally stick to the top section of the water, normally swimming but mine likes the lower corner of the tank. Like everything to each his own. If it starts to sit on the bottom for along time thats when i would worry. i have my 13 incher in a 200 gallon tank with 8 tinfoil barbs, 3 bala sharks, one 13 inch rope fish, and two 8 inch black ghost knives. this size tank with a strong top is a minimum for an aro. it eats pellets, srimp, bloodworms, fish, night crawlers, and loves insects. a 75% water change once a week is the best as they are sensitive. check your water quality should be: ph- 6.5 to 7, nitrite-0, niterate-0 and amonia-0.
@scott, a 75% water change is deadly to most aquarium fishes. 25% water change weekly is good enough.
speaking from my 5 years experience
why everytime I go near the aquarium my 4 inch silver arowana always being so aggresive? he’s like afraid of something. most arowna’s ive seen on other videos are so gentle even though there were people wathcing the tank. pls help me . is my arowana sick? stress? what should i do?
