I just love Japan. Spending 2 weeks there after college just exploring was just an unique experience. They always have the most random and unique things and once you think you’ve seen it all, they come back and surprise you. Case in point, check out this video…. Totally amazing….how do people come up with things like this? |

How do the goldfish not get cooked with it being over 100*C?
yeah…I guess I don’t get it. Can anyone translate?
its been translated on a few fish forums…cant remember exactly but basically the fish were in the water bason just to prove that it could hold fish. mearly a demonstration, thye dont actually live in there

some tidbits from the website…
“because oil floats on water, despite the massive heat (163 degrees Celsius) the goldfish simply stay away from the surface and all is well.”
it’s a principle of insolubility vs. solubility. polar compounds vs. nonpolar compounds. water being the more polar and pulling the electrons toward the oxygen atom while the fatty acid molecules pull the electrons towards only one side of the molecule….so the only fundamental way that the oil and water molecules interact is through heat exchange which is not an extremely fast process……. but goes from high to low temps which lets the fish live……..yay…sorry for the semi-complex response. i could be wrong though. i like criticism.
