Well you could:

1. Leave them, she'll probably eat many if not all of them.

2. take the mother out as soon as she gives birth (assuming you've got another tank for her)

3. Use a gravel siphon and "suck" the fry out into a bucket (to be transplanted into a fry growout tank, assuming you've got one)

4. If no other tanks are available you could try putting a whole bunch of "caves/hides" for the fry to escape into to avoid mommy, obviously with holes small enough for her to not enter.

Obviously there are ways to do all of this "properly" using breeding nets/cages etc. but it's not worth the investment IMO unless you intend to breed them as a hobby.

Sounds like you may be getting up there with the stocking levels. Make a list of everything you have in it and post it in your signature, it makes questions a lot easier to answer. :) How long has it been set up?

Drake,

If you are in the forum, look at the top of the page for a blue line with links in it. Just above the row of pictures. There is a link that says: "Quick Links" Click on it and it drops down a menu. In the menu is an option to "Edit Signature" Click on that and type in what you would like your sigature to be.

only 8 babies??? omg. well also sucking babies up with a gravel siphon is not a good idea....(to be honest) it could kill them. id prefer, if the tank is small enough. to put it into the growout tank and let the babies swim out. but you have to keep an eye on water levels and pressure on the glass. but the best alternative is to catch them. =] the best way.

My 300th post =] =] =[] =[] wow thats cool lol
