Hi everyone, I have a friend with a pair of spawning Convicts.....Well needless to say there are a whole bunch of little ones now. She gave me 7 (I could have had as many as I wanted) Anyway I'm hoping I'll end up with a pair eventually. I couldn't get great pics, but I got a few. The "mommy" was a pink convict, and the "daddy" was striped, currently all the fry are the striped variety, we'll see if they keep there stripes as they mature IDunno.

Anyway here's 2 that felt like being in front of the Camera, they are about 1/2 - 3/4" long right now, so they're pretty tiny. :p

And here is their home (At least till they get some size on, them maybe they'll get something larger)

Nice!

They should stay striped. You can usually tell what variety they will be at a very young age and they don't differ from that. I've had a Black X Black pair produce pinks before (80% black 20% pink offspring). Never know till they get to breeding.
Cool, Thanks Matt! I wasn't sure if they changed colors/stripes as they aged....now I know :D

I hope of these 7, I get a "happy couple" I figure my chances are pretty good, but we'll see.

Another MFTer with convicts---that's awesome!
They're such cute little guys too when they're so small...congrats. It's cool too that you know they've got some 'pink genes' in them---could come into play when it comes to breeding later on, as Matt indicated. *thumbsup

I really like how you've got the rockwork arranged as well.
IF I were to change anything, I'd probably get rid of the two rounder ones that stick out like a sore thumb (for me anyway, but I got OCD, so don't take it personal ;) ). All the rocks seem to match in terms of their colors though, so you could say that I'm exaggerating just a tad. Maybe move a few of the smaller rocks to the foreground too...just in front of the caves maybe. Maybe build it up a bit more on one side as well.

Sheesh...why am I so picky this morning? lol This isn't the 'rate my tank section,' is it?

Anyway, I really like this setup, and I think your cons will be very happy with the home you've got going for 'em! Definitely keep us updated with lots of pics, and let us know when you're able to see evidence of sex (i.e. orange spots or lack thereof).

Anyone know what's the earliest you can sex these guys?

Yea I agree about the roundish rocks, I set this tank up at like 2:45 in the morning, and was getting fairly delirious :p

I'll be taking those rocks out, at the next WC. I've got a few way cool pieces of slate I'm going to stuff in there. I'll post pics when I have them *thumbsups

Well, not much has changed, they've grown a bit, but I was cracking off some pictures today, and I couldn't resist posting this. The pic quality is so/so, but it's still cute.

All of my lil' guys line up for a picture :p

I believe the 2 on the left are female, it looks like they are developing a slight orange to them. But they are still very small (compare them to the gravel) maybe it's my eyes playing tricks
