I'm thinking about upgrading the Aqua-tech filter which came with my 29g kit. Two that I am considering are the Penguin BIO-Wheel 150 and the Whisper Filter 30.

Right now I'm now sure which would be better. I am currently using a Whisper 10i for my 10g tank and have not had any problems since buying it in February. I'm no fan of internal filters but it sure is quite!

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thoughts regarding other brands are welcome, too.

I'm with you, TommyR. I love my aquaclear filter! I find it to be very quiet and I like the fact that the intake tube is clear so it makes it very easy to tell when it should be cleaned or is clogging.

Hey TommyR......Happy Birthday, by the way!!

OK...I'm getting a few responses for AquaClear. How much better is the AquaClear than Whisper?

On a side note, I see that the AquaClear 50 sells for $29.89 on Foster & Smith's internet site and only $20.99 in the catalog; I just called and they will still honor that price.

OK...just ordered a AC 50 for the catalog price of $20.99 (as oppossed to the website price of $29.89).

I also ordered a Pro Fish Bagger for $2.99 (figured that would make it easier trying to acclimate new fish to the tank after bringing them home from the store).

After s/h of $9.99 and a $5.00 coupon I ended up paying $28.97. Guess I basically got a free fish holder and free shiping...

Thanks for all the input that was given. I hope this filter works better than that cheap Aqua-tech.
