So yesterday I saw an auction on aquabid that I coulden't resist, and convinced my mom that her tank needed more fish. (she seemed happy with her current stock, but it looked so bare and empty) Showed her the fish and told her a bit about them and she loved the idea, so any day now we should have 6 Pseudotropheus Acei. :D

I'll try to get some pics when they arrive, but I have always liked Acei and I am really excited to get them even though they have to go in a growout quarentine untill they are big enough to go in with the labs, shoulden't be too bad as they are supposidly 1.5"-2" and the labs are about 2"-3.5".

Sounds like a good choice.
I haven't really studied the African species in-depth yet...simply because I'm on the whole CA/SA 'kick' right now (at least for the moment, anyway :rolleyes: ), but Acei have always stood out as a fish I'd like to keep for when I take the plunge into the world of African cichlids. ;)

LOL BV, I am the same. I am all about SA/CA cichlids, but my mom wanted COLOR, so I decided to go Mbuna with her tank. She LOVES the yellow labs and I asked her what other color she would like to see with them, she said blue, so I started looking for blue, but nothing really seemed to fit or it was not available or just seemed like too much to fuss with.


I have always liked the Acei as well, but I had completely forgotten about them. Once I saw the auction, I had to show my mom and see what she thought, she said go for it, so we did a buy it now and they should be on their way! :)

I am impressed, these guys are awesome. Love them! Here they are in all their speedy little glory!

Forgive the pics, it's a freebie acrylic tank on the bottom of the stand in a narrow hallway and these guys were fresh outta the box they called home for 2 days...

Full tank shot (or my attempt at one at least) Keep in mind this is just a growout untill they can handle being in witht he labs.

They seem to be happy and healthy as far as I can tell so far, lets hope they stay this way and grow fast!

Thanks, yeah I was excited to find a fish that my mom liked (her tank) and that I liked that got along with everyone, fit the tank, were colorful, over 1" (smallest is about 1.5"), and cheap ($16 for 6! :D ), not to mention they showed up healthy and happy, even though we opted for the cheaper shipping option (OH - MI... didn't want to pay twice the shipping for an extra couple hours).

Haha...that was an awesome commentary you gave along with those pics there, Virgo! You can actually see them swimming from spot to spot in the series of pics. And they're cute little guys too...looks good. *thumbsups

LOL Thanks BV, I was cracking up watching them and since you guys can't see how fast and goofy they were, I just felt the need to express their silliness somehow! LOL

Thanks Matt, these guys were a good choice. I really liked the Polits, but these guys just worked out better for us. Thanks for all your help too.
