Meet my boys!

#1
Hello fellow fish geeks and betta fanatics! I thought I'd share some pics of my boys with you all. :)

Calvin, a Red Marble Butterfly CT (the BF pattern is incomplete).

Clancy, a "Pineapple" Delta Tail.

Rasputin, a Lavender/Red Cambodian CT.

Rufus, a Turquoise Multi PK Giant.

Rusty, an Opaque/Red BF HM.

and last but not least, Tokyo, a Blue/White Grizzle CT.

I hope you all like! :D

Wow! Thanks everybody! :)

Wow, great pictures.

I like Rufus myself.
Yay! Finally one for Rufus!
Apparently he's my pretty ugly boy. No one seems to be a big fan of him but he's got these really big kissable lips
lol

Beautiful pics!! You have probably been asked this about a thousand times, but what camera are you using?

My fav would have to be Calvin :D
Thank you Helena! I'm using a Sony DSC-W30. I fiddle around with the settings but never remember them. I'm certainly not a photographer by any stretch of the imagination but every once in a while I surprise myself with halfway decent one. *laughingc

Those are some great pics, of some beautiful fish. I would have to say, my favorite is Rasputin.
*yay* Rasputin's the latest addition to the betta family. I saw him and swooned. Just couldn't walk out the store leaving such a cute boy behind so I brought him home. I'm hoping to spawn him with Cassy.

I like rufus the best. I always go for the plakats before any kind of long tailed strain. I just like that short finned natural look I guess. How big is he? Iv'e heard the giants are unbelievably big, but have never seen one IRL.

Rufus is about 3"TL and growing fast.
I've read that "real" giants get to 7" but no one is ever really clear about this. Any male betta that doesn't get to at least 4" immediately gets discredited as a "giant" and is labeled a "half giant". I've never heard of a 7" PK, much less seen proof of one. I have heard claims of 7" long-finned strains however and that makes sense. 4" body leaves room for 3" of finnage or 3" of body and 4" of finnage. If that's how giants are determined then I would say there was no such think as a "giant" PK  . lol
IMO a giant PK grows to a max of 5" (including caudal).
I'm expecting Rufus to reach about 4", give or take a few mm. I've had a giant PK before him (same source) and he grew to 3.75" by the time he 8 months old.

Always so modest. ;)
Your pics are always amongst my favorites around here---especially this latest batch of them! Fantastic shots, and awesome bettas. :)

Butterflies are regular. Buttetfly just refers to the pattern of the colors. example...

Notice how all of these have matching body and fin colors, but the color changes twoard the last half or last two thirds of the fins.

This really doesn't pertain to your question, but here are some of the different tail types.

Another one of my favorite bettas is the cambodian. Which is just another color variation of the betta.
