Well, after months of my girl being camera shy, I moved her into a different tank a couple days ago and she seems to be LOVING the new digs. She's turned a complete 180 from always hiding and being spooky, to always exploring, interacting with me, and posing for the camera :D So, after a long hiatus, I give you Draco.

Wow, I absolutely love the bluish hues in her finnage!
Got a total-length measurement for us yet? She must be gettin' up there...still a far cry from your Midas though, obviously.

Oh, silly BV...technically, she is my Midas...just one of three, and as far as I can tell so far, the only girl ;)

Length...oh, she's probably about 5.5" now. They grow fast for the first few inches and start slowing down a bit at about the size she is now.

wow she is very pretty.. is she kept with anything else... cuz im sure it could be a very pretty tank.
Thanks. Nope, she lives by herself. When I first got her as a 2" baby, I tried having a tankmate with her in a 90gal tank, and she promptly slaughtered it. Haven't tried since, and she'll be alone likely for a very long time, lol.

Thanks Katie.

Woops, somehow I thought your big guy was a 'Midas' but your two young ones were 'red devils,' which I was under the impression were somehow different from a 'Midas,' lol. I guess I was confused. But there is a difference between Midas and RD, right?

BV

BV, yes, there's a difference. RD's are A. libiatus, and Midas are A. citrinellum. Very, very close species though, with only a few minor physical differences really. To be honest though, most Midas or RD's purchased in petstores these days, are actually a cross of the two. So in theory, all my guys likely have a bit of both in them. I just call them according to which characteristics they show. Karma looks very much like a Midas, even though he may have some RD in him too, so I consider him a Midas. Draco and Kujo are a bit too young to tell for sure, but they both appear to show very strong Midas traits as well - but I'll have to see how they mature.

Fuzz, I'm considering trying to pair Draco and Kujo up, but I need to get a bigger tank before I can do that...and who knows how long it will be before I can accomplish that. So I'll have to see how things go. For now, they'll all remain in individual tanks.

Thanks Helena :)
