any1 try clams (Corbicula fluminea) in shrimp tank?

These things are supposed to help reduce nitrates, and have similiar feeding requirements to the shrimp, so I'm thinking of adding a few to my shrimp tank. Any1 else ever try this and how did it go?

OK, well that's 18 views and no responses so I'll take that as a resounding "No we haven't tried it".

It seems I'll be a pioneer of sorts here, I'll let you all know how it goes.

i havent tried it but i've seen them at the store... do they do anything or just sit there?

I think a few people on here have tried them with limited success. People don't usually opt to put them in a tank with fish because I think as "young clams" whatever they're called...they are a type of parasite.

Would probably be interesting though if you could keep them alive and get down a feeding/cleaning schedule.

Its not that they think of them as a parasite...its that they ARE a parasite when they're young.

i've tried 'em (though "native" ones) and had no sucess. they all died within a few days probably because i could not keep my tank "dirty" enough for them, is my guess.

I read somewhere that they burrow into the fish and look like ich when they are young
