I am still cycling a 2 1/2 gallon tank for a betta fish. All readings are maxed out so I'm just waiting (and waiting, and waiting) for the cycle to be over. I just had a look at the tank, which has 1 live plant, and couldn't believe what I was seeing. There are 4 tiny snails in there . Now I'm assuming they came in with the plant, but how the heck are they surviving in there with ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate all maxed out? Now the big question is......Should I get them out of there? I also noticed some rather ugly brown/rust spots on the leaves of my fake, silk plant. Could the snails be responsible for these marks, if not, what do you think is causing them? Thanks in advance for your input
