Hi im new to this forum luckily i found it was in need of some serious advice,
recentley started up a tropical community tank for my daughter consisting of.

2x jewel cichlids ...sex:?
2x molly ...sexf/m
2x bala sharks ...?
2 x Aurauts ...f
1 Angel ...?

yes i know its just not working now that we are 3 weeks into it, and after researching these fish (should have done that first), its a huge tank only problem is the jewel's one is a brilliant red the other a mushroom pink, the pink one doesnt seem sick but infact more active ,i think it may be stressed though as the other jewel keeps biting its tail all the time, but then the next day they swim happily together,,any idea's on what to do?

I can hear the grumbling criticism coming from other users, about your mix.

But anyways, for the topic...sounds like you may have a male and female. They can be really aggro regardless though.

Sounds like a male and female. Possibly wanting to breed? I had 2 pairs a while back that bred and i eventually between both pairs sold 550 of them! Im not going to get all pissy with you but the bala is going to get 12''+ and the angel and mollies will probably get killed. So you either need to move them out or get rid of the jewels and bala.

None of the fish that you have will be able to live together peacefully. The Balas, Mollies and the Angel may be fine together provided the tank is big enugh to house the Bala Sharks, as said previously they get 12" in length. Your best bet is to do some research on your own about these fish you have and decide what direction you want to go. Then we can help further.

Thanks for the Info guys, i recently got some information from a fish discovery centre also and this gives me an option for a new home for the fish if i need it,they also told me that Jewel's also go bright red when one is more dominant (of the same sex)??, they also advised me to actually get rid of the Auratus what do you think? and why would that be?.they never told me why.

If you like everything BUT the auratus then that will probably be the way to go. They are definitely the most active aggressive fish in there. The jewels can be hard hitters too, but IME aren't really pursuers of other fish, just territorial...give them a few caves to stake out.

PLEASE try to use punctuation, and a browser with built in spell check. I ask what you are talking about because it makes no sense. All i got from your post is that you posted a bunch of random facts about jewels not related to the OP.
