What can anyone tell me about Corydora Habrosus... I haven't been able to find much info about them...

What I do know is that, they're the Salt and Peppered Pygmy Cories, and they grow as big as 2 cm... Mine are still around 1.5 cm.

Unfortunately one of them died today.... He was always alone.

I'm probably going to put some in all my tanks, except the 10 gallon.

no, I didn't. Thanks!

Every time I looked them up on yahoo or google, I'd get mostly South American websites.... I speak spanish, but it would've taken me a while to process all of that. lol.

Maybe that's because you're looking it up as corydora, not corydoras (which is the correct spelling).
Haha, that would make perfect sense. I kept thinking corydoras was plural for some reason. Why did I not pay more attention when we were discussing nomenclature in Paleobiology? lol. Thanks for the help.

Does anyone know if habrosus eat live brine shrimp?

I have 10 in a 5 gallon QT tank right now with the 2 otos, I placed some live brine shrimp in there, but they seem to ignore it... It looks like they prefer the algae?

Will paleatus eat live brine shrimp as well? I have a lot of brine shrimp.

I paid $2 for a whole bag of live brine shrimp... I know the guppies will readily eat them... as I saw a whle ago.... so cute, the juvenile guppies were trying really hard to get the bs

lol. Yeah, all the brine shrimp in both the cory tanks went up the filter. I'll probably just stick to the algae wafers and shrimp pellets. The peppered cories just tear up those algae wafers, while the pygmies (or are the habrosus dwarf.... or was it dainty, can't remember) are shy when eating.

I fed the white clouds too much brine shrimp, and have huge stomachs, except for one of them.... one of them has been huge for a long time though.

My cories eat blood worms but mostly leave the brine shrimp to the larger, more aggresive fish they live with.

I would HIGHLY suggest when you get more cories try and keep them in groups of at least three or four. They seem to be about a million and ten times more mellow and relaxed when they have buddies.

I actually got 10 more habrosus today and are in QT with the 2 Otos.
They weren't moving around much for the first 20 minutes, but now they're all over the place! It's soooo cool! 4 of them will be going into the 15 gallon, so there'll be a shoal of 8 in there. The other 6 will stay in the 5 gallon until I can get a 29 gL tank this summer, or heck, in May with my birthday money (just 1 more month!) and that stimulus check I'm expecting from the IRS.

I also got what I thought were 2 more paleatus, but they don't look very much alike, I'll try to snap a photo in a while, or maybe tomorrow after work. I think that instead of giving me the peppered cories, they gave me green emeralds, or something like that. I should've been paying more attention... but I was busy admiring the dwarf gouramis... which I'm thinking of getting for my 10 gallon.
Sometimes I'll see the two green guys and the two peppered guys together, but they mostly stay with themselves. I feel guilty having them cramped in the 5 gL during QT. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have that HUGE cave in there... I'm going to replace it with a much smaller one, and save that one for the 29 gL.

If all works out according to plan, I'll be putting my 2 peppered in the 10 gallon. Getting them 2 more buddies. Including an Oto. Probably getting a Dwarf Gourami (f). The LFS I got my 2 green (?) cories from sells m/f dwarf gourami pairs for $2.50, or $2.99 for just the male... seems a bit backwards to me, but I'm guessing they really want to push those females out.

Then in the 29 gallon, (*fingers crossed*) I'll have my 2 green cories, plus 2 more buddies, the 6 habrosus, 1 oto, 1 Dwarf Gourami, maybe a small school of white clouds in there too.

I would keep your Otos in groups of at least 2 too.. they're calmer with buddies.... in a 29G I would look at 4 to 6 (that's my plan for mine!)

It seems to me it's easy to fill up a tank with just bottom dwellers.

On your 'green' cories you might want to count the rays if they'll stay still and compare to your peppereds. The 'Emerald Catfish' is often mislabeled as the emerald cory as we went through on another thread recently and it gets quite a bit larger then your average cory.

I don't mind filling up on bottom dwellers! They're dang cool! :D

I was only really planning on getting one centerpiece fish, and a small school of tetras for my future 29gL, so the rest would've been for cories and otos.

This looks a lot like the "green" cories I got... so they're definitely not paleatus... I guess they're brochis splendens? I'll take my own pic as soon as I get out of work... I want confirmation from real experts :D

Boy what a clean tank you should have then!

And that looks like an Emerald Catfish to me, it's not a true cory. Keep in mind those little suckers get up to 3.5 inches!

I'll probably put the emeralds in the 29 gallon, with a couple more buddies, the otos, a small school of tetras, and maybe a dwarf gourami.

I've still got at least a month or 2 before I can get the 29 gallon.... if I find a better deal on craig's list, I may even get something bigger.
