Hi all....Can a Rainbow Shark be kept in a 29g? The bottom is well scaped with rocks (Can be seen to a degree in my avatar). The large rock is a massive cave with 4 seperate entrances.

I'd like to keep one as my exclusive bottom dweller but I am unsure about my 29g being large enough.

Thanks.

Sounds good...I'm going to pick one up when my cycle is completed. Probably going to accompany the Rainbow with a decent size school of Zebra Danio's and call it good.

I've got a similar size tank I've just set up, was planning on putting a Rainbow or red tail shark in there, how do they get on with other bottom feeders, Corys, Otos etc. I know they are territorial but does this only apply to same species or is it more area specific?

From what I have read so far around the net is, that the rainbow or the red tail will harass other bottom dwellers in their "territory". In a smaller tank such as ours, it seems having other bottom dwellers may be asking for trouble.

I had a chat with the guy at my LFS who has given me some pretty good advice so far, he said it would be fine. As my 2nd tank was up and running thought I would give it a try see how they got on. Any problems and the big green net was ready to pounce.

Well pleased to say they seem to be fine, the Cory go about there business and the Shark goes about his. They are in the 10G together so space is fairly limited, but a couple of caves under the bog wood and from some stones give the shark some areas to go under, the corys seem content on gravel or sat on the log when they are 'resting' from ther snuffling (is that a verb?)

Ps, I know the 10G is to small for the RTBS, but he is still very small and will go into the bigger tank in a month or two. Just need to convince my colleague it is in fishys best interests!
