Will this 55 gallon tank fit in my car?

Here are the specs: 48x13x20. I drive a Nissan Altima and I don't think it will fit in the trunk. Has anyone bought a 55 gallon and transported it in their car? And the guy said it is about 100 lbs, does this sound about right? I don't have a truck and I am super excited about finally getting a large tank (I got a good deal on it) but I'll be devastated if I can't buy it due to transportation issues.. Anyone transport a 55 gallon in their car? Thanks!

If you're getting it with filters and stuff I would suspect it'll be more then 100Lbs.

My 29G with all the filters and things tucked in it was about 60 and it took up a good chunk of my Colbalts back seat.

Just take a measuring tape to your back seat and doors to make sure you have room?

We've put a 55g in our Saturn Ion Quad a couple of times. We've managed to fit a tank across the back seat (resting on the armrests in the door). I guess you'll just have to try it and see.

If there's a stand with it, it may take two trips.

I had no problems with my girlfriend's 4 door Ion, putting it in the back seat. On the other hand, my 2 door Avenger would have never gotten the job done.

I'd think that if you have a 4 door, your chances are pretty good

If nothing else, lay the passenger seat all the way back and lay it on its side..and on the seat. Just bring some blankets for cushion. If you want it bad enough, you'll get it in the car!
That may be your best option. Whenever we end up buying something and the box is way bigger than anticipated and we have the car instead of my pickup, that usually the only way to get the box inside the car and home. I don't know if your Altima's front seat will recline back far enough, but that's what I'd do if I were in your shoes. Good Luck.

When I got my 55, I loaded it into the backseat of my truck (I have the rear half-doors). It fit perfectly. The stand and gear went in the bed. I didn't want the tank itself in the bed, because I was afraid it would get damaged.

Trucks are a bit wider then cars so YMMV. I'd measure it out to be sure.
