I'm really worried you have contamination in your tanks of some kind. Can you think of something that's gone in both tanks in the past few days (like a net?)

I think it's time for you to go to the harder antibotics as well.

The things that have been in both tanks are my arms, the python ,the filter cleaning brushes, and the magnet cleaner...sigh, I know. The only thing I can say in my defense is that EVERYBODY was FINE until I came down Wed. morning. I was going to use the Maracyn-One and -Two, but the disease site I looked at said triple sulfa for flex...'whinning' now what do I do?

Look again. It says that Triple Sulfa may yield results if used early and that it's not as effective as it used to be (is the flex bacterium becoming resistant? ). It also sugests the use of Minocycline, which has proven effective against Columnaris and that it is in Maracyn-Two.

I think I'd hit it with the Maracyn twins (or maybe just the second twin).

GGGGrrrrrr!!!!!!! Now the Glofish are showing funk! I moved them to the QT bucket with the Mollies. I am on the very edge of loosing it. Probably not ideal, but I added Maracyn-Two to both the QT bucket and the 20G. This means that my 55 G is empty except for the plants and such..no fish. Anyone think of what I can do for the tank? I have the lights off, the temp at 78, the UV sterilizer on...what else should I be doing?? Damn, if I could only swallow right...I need a drink!

GGGGRRRRR!!!!!! Now the big Silver Dollar has big fuzzy things on his gills. The fuzzy spot on his mouth is smaller, but his gills look like crap! I have the triple sulfa and the Maracyn 2 in there. Can anyone think of what else I can do?? The Golfish and the Mollies seem to be doing ok..the Glofish hate the QT..much smaller than their 55G.

They seem to be doing well...except for the assisted suicide of 1 Glofish...made a leap for it down the drain when I was doing a water change...feel sorry for him, but nothing I could do. Anyway, I see no spots on an in the QT (might be missing so, kind of hard to see since the bucket is blue..have to use a flashlight), and everyone is moving happily around and eating great when I feed them. I am leary about returning them to the 55G when their treatment is done...any ideas on what I should do to that tank?

Does the bucket have a heater and a filter on it?

If they're okay for a bit in there I would do a 100% water change on your 55, look for sources of contamination/signs of contamination ect once it's all clean and heated up again make put the fish back and treat them there. If they're okay there then maybe consider putting all your fish in there while you clean out the 20G as well.

I'm not sure is that's the 'right' thing to do but it's what I would do.

Like Tab, I've no idea what the "right" thing to do is.

However, it did just occur to me that you might drain the 55G if nobody is in there and let it sit idle and dry for a few days. Things that might hurt your fish are unlikely to survive drying out. That's one more thing you might try.

Yes the QT bucket has a heater and a filter on it. I did a 75% water change in it after I took everyone out on Wednesday, but I'll suck it dry tomorrow...sigh I really hate wasting all this water, but my lawn looks GREAT where I drain the tanks too ;-)
If I were to drain the 55G completely and let it dry, wouldn't I have to re-cycle the tank from scratch?

That's the problem yeah. You will. And you won't be able to use anything from your 20 as it seems to be contaminated with something too :(

Don't mind me, I'm just going to go cry in the corner. Really, please ignore the crying, screaming, weeping and flailing. All will be alright. That being said, this really SUCKS!!!!

But you could bleach some of the decorations and rinse them and then put them in the QT bucket. And when you set up the 55 again you can carry over the heater and filter from the QT as well. That should be enough benificial bacteria to keep your current bioload (since it's been managing it in the bucket)

Well, the only decorations I have for the tank are way too big for the QT bucket...could I grab some gravel, bleach it, rinse it, treat it and then put it in a nylon or something to add to the QT? And what do I do with all my plants..please don't tell me they have to be thrown....
