Oh that's WAY better 3800rs! You're doing great.

You're at about the upper limit of what you want it to be normally. Once you get it down a 25 to 30% water change every week should really help.

Thanks, Yea from here on out i will be doing the weekly water changes. The fish do indeed look better. They are not opening their mouths as much anymore and no signs of ich. I did noticed one tetra got his tail nipped at. Could that be from not feeding enough ?

You don't have that much rock and stuff you probably displace about 5 gallons unless your gravel bed is really deep.

I would change out 20 gallons a week if I were you.

You can use Melafix to treat the tail nipped tetra.

Again, its probably the stress from the water changes.

What were the test results?
What fish are currently in there?
What do they look like before they die?
Are you conditioning your water correctly before you put in in the tank?

What were the test results?Everything normal, nitrates around 30
What fish are currently in there? 1 gourami, 1 shark, about 12 tetras
What do they look like before they die? normal, when i did notice a few they looked like the lost their balance and were flopping around and eventually end up at the filter intake
Are you conditioning your water correctly before you put in in the tank?yep

I think i am gonna hold off on the daily water changes before i loose all the fish. i will change out a bit a week, but i agree daily changes seemed to stress them out.

just looked and noticed 2 of my black tetras maybe phantoms ? have a white mouth and one is swimming with his mouth wide open. This is really becoming a headache for me. feels like every time i look at the tank there are dead fish

I dont quite understand too funny... medacate water then take it out... prime @ seachm will lower nitrates.. your fish are opening there mouths because of the medication burning there gill's, you changed the water but re added med's. now you have too much med's.

Hmm, whats the temperature? Is the temp of the water you put in the same is the tank temp?
Also, what kind of fish are the tetras?
Did you say that you got them from a friend or something?

Some tetras are just weak fish, like cardinal tetras that require pristine water conditions to survive, and if you got them from a friend, maybe the change in water stressed them to the point of death.

the temp is 78 degrees. 2 of the black tetras just died. what i researched was it to be "cotton mouth" 1 other tetra has a white mark on his mouth so i imagine he is soon to follow. No meds were put in the water since tuesday and the waterchange was done on wednesday
