sailfin pleco

I was hoping someone could help me, I have posted some photo's of my pleco in the fish photography forum and have been told its just a common pleco, what does this mean and are they correct.

The thread is called my pleco. Could you check it out and let me know.

...well he looks like a sailfin to me.

I'm not sure how big they (sailfins) get but common plecos are tankbusters and produce a lot of waste. I think the sailfins get very big too.

also don't take my word for it b/c I'm not a plecspert, I just looked at your plec....then at some pics of sailfin and common. The commons are uglier hee hee. But they are hard to distinguish imo.

I checked out some pictures of sailfin and common pleco's, I to am not an expert, but I think mine is a sailfin and cute in a fish way. lol

Kaney, here is a pic of my pleco which i believe is a common pleco. mine lookes different than yours but i'm no expert either. IMO yours is not a common pleco.

I don't know for a fact that its a common since i wast the original purchaser of this pleco. the lady i got it from never said it was any special kind of pleco so i'm under the assumption it is common. i would think if it was some special kind she would have said so. either way it doesn't look like kaney's. even the shape of the head is different. when i picked it up out of the bucket, i can say it deffinatly has a armored back it felt like it had a hard shell. hopefully someone with more experence will chime in.*thumbsups
