When do I change the water?

A couple of days ago one of my fish died from malawi bloat but I read up on it and the articles said that its usually not just one fish so i went to my lfs 2and got some maracyn 2 for my tank. Now incase you don't know, this stuff kills all bacteria even good ones which means that the water will need to be changed. What I need to know is when? Ive been told do 50% and then 30% BUT WHEN ? After all the meds are done of half way through do the 50 and then at the end do the 30?
Anyone who has any insight on this please help.

I would be inclined to follow whatever directions the meds say to follow. What does it say to do?

With antibiotics, always finish the whole course of meds. I would advise against doing a water change until the course of meds has finished.

You should check your ammonia levels while using Maracyn Two, because it occasionally disrupts the cycle bacteria.

Thanks for the help and i tested the water and so far it is on its third day and is doing fine so theres only 2 more days until the meds are done and my fish are hopefully safe.
