Cichlid: pronounced "sick-lid"

lol I just found this out the other day. In the two or so years I have been in the hobby, I have called them "sitch-lids" lol. Well assuming that they are in fact pronounced "sick-lid", I guess I finally know the truth haha

I find it kind of amusing (or annoying, depending on my mood, lol) when people spell it 'chichlid', cuz it looks as though it would be pronounced 'chick-lid', which reminds me of chiclets gum. Silly, I know.

At first I though it was chick-lid too because I miss-read it and then I thought it was kitch-lid until last year.

(Chiclets!!!!! I just recently discovered those in the dollar store; no sucralose or aspertame!! YAY!)

lol I think thats the way I did quite some time ago. Life would be a lot easier if they would teach Latin in school. Dead Language my arse.

I'm actually pondering learning Latin and another language so I can teach my daughter. I'm leaning for Swahili.

Me and my girlfriend used to call them "chicles" (gum in Spanish)
cus we had no darn clue what they were called until
i heard some guy say "sick-lids" ahah. so we just joked around
and called them that.
