totally off subject unwritten law but i worked for the two years i lived in wv for a eye dr that had an optical across from the stadium called spectrum optical. anyhoo the years i was there we went to every game. the mountaineers rocked! they were undefeated and went to a bowl game. it was fun the way the town went nuts. kinda like when i lived in denver years ago and they went to the super bowl. sorry for the trip down memory lane!

So I added my pressurized CO2. It was all good but apparently I was adding too much and caused a mini crash. I lost my RTS, BN Pleco, and two barbs... this all was just over night. After a huge water change and fixing the CO2 everyone is fine now. It looks like its 1-2 bubbles per second... more like 1. I need to check the hardness and pH to be sure how much I'm adding though.

Since I lost my bottom feeders I'm thinking about loaches... yoyos... are 3-4 of these good for a pretty heavily planted tank? I don't want them redecorating. I'll post a new pic soon since I re-scaped a few weeks ago.

Alright ...........so I 4 yoyo loaches, and 2 otos. I wanted about 4 otos but I'll have to wait for more to come in at the store I trust. I also got some free ghost shrimp and was debating where to put them. After trying one in this tank and seeing the keyholes go right after it, I put the rest in the 16. The tigers are pretty curious about the yoyos but I think they will be fine. I'll post some pics soon.

substrate is seachem's fluorite onyx sand..... 60 lbs

I still want to move some stuff around in there... mostly spread the vals out a bit to cover up the left corner more and clear some room in the back for the stem plants to cut off and plant. Also you can see that cyano bacteria that is raising hell on my wood, mostly at that top part.

It's not really that complicated... Just a real interesting piece of driftwood, some stolen rocks from landscaping, and a bunch of plants.

Also those yoyos are tiny still about the size of my cherry barbs you see in the top left but just not as fat.

Now I'm just letting things grow out, especially that unknown type of hygro(s) in the back. I really should get CO2 back up and running as well.

Yoyo after about 3 or 4 weeks of having them.

Bamboo Shrimp. He has gotten much more red and also into hiding...

Thanks a lot man. Coming from a planted tank "expert" that means a lot. I think most of my plants are doing well besides the occasional spots of algae on the slower growing ones (anubius and sword). Also I am still competing cyano-bacteria but I have recently decided to cut back my feeding by 75% for a bit and also try and get CO2 back up and running asap.

I was actually thinking that today because where my water sprite hits the current of the canister filter, it is magically free of cyano. I do have two power heads being delivered but they are destined for my SW tank.... I'm sure my bamboo shrimp would like the extra current too... my gourami, maybe not so much, but he's lame anyways.

For now I'll just try to create more surface movement for O2 and try and find a long term solution.
