Is there a way to encourage algae growth? I originally had 2 ottos and they were taking care of everything for me. I bought 2 mollies and now have noticed that the algae appears completely gone. I don't want my fish to starve because the algae is gone. i have been using the algae pellets but none of the fish seem to want those. ANy suggestions?

Put some big rocks or other aquarium decorations in a container of water outside in full sun. Algae will grow on them. Put one or more algae-covered items into your aquarium. When they eat it all, replace with new algae-covered items. This way you can feed your algae-eating fish without having a green tank. :)

the best solution for this that I've heard about is to take a small tank around 10g and put some algae from your main tank in there then feed it as much light as you can (use plant light or sun light bulbs and at least 12 hours of it a day) you also want to feed the algae plant fertilizer I recomend Seachem Flourish which is a comprehensive fertilizer with all the micro and trace elements needed and some Seachem Excel for organic carbon so you don't have to worry about any co2 injection stuff which can be a huge pain. and this way you just grow all the algae you need. if you don't want this kind of setup you can remove all or most of your real plants and up your lighting by a few hours a day and add fertilizer if needed this way the algae isn't compeating for food with other plants.
