Can anyone help me in identifying this thing that appears to be coming from my bettas nostril? It looks like a cottony nose snot i have tried to remove it manually but have had no luck. He seems to be unaffected by it but I dont want it to spread or get worse.

Thanks!

First off, eeewww!! OK, so you can get rid of his snot, but I would draw the line if he asks you to change his diaper. Kids are bad enough...

I think he's got a fungus. A really creatively placed fungus, but a plain old fungus. I would salt his water and add melafix/bettafix. Give it 3 days to show improvement. If it doesn't, or gets noticeably worse at all, go for a fungus medication.

Seriously, kudos for trying to manually remove it. Could you video any future attempts? OK, now I'm messing with you again. Sorry. I can just imagine trying to pin this fish down. Kind of like me trying to clip my dogs nails by myself. Total fiasco...

Stunning fish in your avatar! Is it yours? What is it?

totally need to use salt and melafix. thats a cypranid fungus. the same kinda fungus that kills betta eggs. Do not use that fella for breeding within the next 3 mos if you had planned to. that fungus could easily kill him if you dont start treating it.
