I want 5 catfish
What kind?

I want live plants
What kind? What lighting will you have for the plants? Light will determine what kind you can grow, which will tell you what substrate would be best and the depth.

what fish can I cycle my tank with I want to cycle with a betta for sure what other fish can I cycle with
A betta would be a poor choice to cycle a tank. Why not do a fish-less cycle?

what filter should I get internal hang on or what
Lots of choices with filters. Personally, I use sponge filters. Everyone has their own type they like and use.

Seriously, dude, a period or comma thrown in there would REALLY help others understand what you are asking.*twirlysmi

(He is from Louisiana, it barely counts as the English language down there.)

Nymphaea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So you want a water lily. You realize there are around a dozen varieties and many of them grow too big for anything but a pond. Pretty much your safest bet is a dwarf water lily which is Nymphaea leibergii - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia or the pygmy water lily AKA Nymphaea tetragona. Since you do not live in Maine or Minnesota where they are listed as an endangered species, you might even be able to find one out in the wild.

have you ever thought of making a native tank? the climate in your home state leads to some cool looking native fish, you could go hunting for some local fishes to fill your tank and have their natural plant counterpart.

you are also going to need the lighting for that lily. Compact fluorescent are not cheap, I only have 1 and only because it was on sale.
