Well after 2 years of being fishless I have now bought a tank and am in the process of stocking it :D The tank has been up for a while now and is a Oceanic Biocube that we decided to go planted in. Im making a trip to the LFS today to get a 6700K bulb to replace the Actinic bulb thats in there now. I just bought some Sagittaria Platyphylla and some Flame Moss online and Im hoping to be able to pick up some Java Fern and an Anubias Nana here locally. Fish wise we are doing some Lucania goodei, the bluefin killifish for now and will either be adding more later or getting another type of Killiefish. Im very excited to get back into fish keeping! *SUPERSMIL

Nice to meet you! Welcome back!

What sized cube did you get? Any special substrate?
Thanks :)

I got the 29G Oceanic and overall its an ok tank. I just dont like bioballs, so Ive gotten rid of those and actinic lighting, although pretty doesnt do much for plants so Im replacing that....and the return pump it came with the tank isnt great either. The flow isnt bad at all but the pump is making the water airy and its not very eye appealing so Im looking at replacing that too.

As for substrate...Im using Flourite.

I've never seen the inner workings of one, but have admired those that have them with all the equipment hidden away. Reminds me of the look I had with a reef tank that had a wet/dry filter and sump in the cabinet under the tank. All equipment was hidden, a very clean look.

2x36 CF lighting?

Post pics when you get the first plants in!

Yeah having the stuff all hidden is very nice. I like the clean look too.

And yep there will be a 36W 6700K and a 10,000K also at 36W. I wont run the 10,000K but for a couple hours in the evening though.

And I will most definitely be posting some pics...Im hoping to find the pump I want to get this air out of this water today...we will see ;)

The 10,000K bulb won't help the plants much (and won't help algae either, which is good).

I'm re-doing a 29gallon and 20gallon high tank this weekend (rectangle tanks). I'm using Turface in them, but since they don't make it in grey/black anymore, I had to pick up some of their brownish color. We'll see. I miss the old Soil Master Select!

Just my luck...I couldnt find any Java Fern or Anubias Nana...at least half way decent (not tore up by fish) anywhere today. I visited 2 LFSs and 2 pet stores! I did find my Ottos though and got them and Hubby wanted a couple banana plants so we got those as well. At least it wasnt a completely wasted 4 hours, lol.

LOL, good to hear :p

Just bought my fish today!! Should have them at some point next week as the guy only ships on Mondays. Ive bought from this guy before and have never been disappointed, so I cant wait to see what he sends. We decided to go with some Heterandria formosa, as well as the Lucania goodei we had originally planned. Should be a neat tank! :)

Well the guy is totally awesome and is going to go ahead and ship out my fish Wednesday so I should have them by Friday or Saturday!!! Very exciting! :D

Yep, Heterandria Formosa (AKA the Lesser Killifish) average about 3/4 of an inch for the males and 1 inch for females. We are getting 15 of them. From what Ive read they are supposed to be neat little fish even though they lack a whole lot of color. And we will have 6 of the Lucania goodei (AKA the Blue Fin Killifish). Should be a neat tank!

I was shocked too at first about the twins. LOL But the shock has wore off and now Im excited to meet them. Just about 15 weeks left!!!

Cool, a whole tank of killis! Looking forward to seeing pics. Are you going to have anything else in there?
Im looking right now for something to help with hair algae. Ive got a little starting on my driftwood cause I dont have a lot of plants just yet (just 2 banana plants and the sagittaria platyphylla and they need their light but apparently its to much for the lack of plants at the moment. Im not wanting to remove my driftwood cause I have all the plants around and on it so Im kinda in a spot atm. My Java Fern and Anubias Nana will be here today and the flame moss is coming from malaysia so its gonna be a while till that gets here. *sigh*

I was thinking about doing a Flagfish but Ive read that they are mean and I dont want that in this tank. Then I thought about getting a Molly...but they can be fiesty too. People are saying that Ramshorns help with algae but I cant find it anywhere that they eat hair algae and Im not sure if I want them either....
