When I set up my first tank in May, I was unable to find any pure ammonia. I made another attempt today without success (I now have another tank - its addicting lol) Anyway please be aware that there is "clear ammonia" but it still has surfactant in it. I don't know what surfactant would do to a tank but I suspect it would leave some kind of residue. Maybe this surfactant is some kind of ecological additive that is required in some states - I have no idea, but I just want to warn people that clear is not pure. I can't remember all the places that had it labeled pure, but three of them were Walmart, Walgrens and Lowes.

Oh ya - the net is just full of info on how to make it and what is all added to it, its uses and how hazardous it is - I rather doubt it would be easy to ship and would cost a fortune.

Surfactants are a soap compound, something you definately don't want in an aquarium.

I'm surprised at how difficult it has been for some users to find pure ammonia. For me it was quite easy...walked into a local grocery and found it. But then again it is Canada and not the States so we have different stores available to us!

Oh ya....I was only slightly paranoid when I first started using it after reading all the warning labels.

Anyways good luck with your search and thanks for the heads up on the mislabeling of ammonia's!
