Ive always wondered when cycling my tanks is it possible to get a start of bacteria out of some of my small outdoor ponds?? to help speed up the cycling process? If anyone has attempted this or has an answer it would be of much help!
If it is a healthy pond, yes. If you have a filter and pump running it, squeeze the used filter into your aquarium's filter. Or, if you have plants growing well in the pond, put a few in your aquarium (just floating them).
i have a hippo tang that is turning all black. the only blue left is a small circle on upper body. the two local fish stores in my area said its very rare, and that they have never seen anything like it before. just thought id post something on the web to see if antone else has come across this before.

I would post a new thread, under the saltwater section, on this issue wolfeman as it's unrelated to macattack's question. Just so the two questions don't get mixed and under the saltwater section you would probably get more views/answers from experience saltwater keepers .
When you post a new thread I would include the following (so people know the "history").
- Readings for ammonia, nitrate and nitrite
- What size of tank your tang is in
- How long have you had the tang for
- Tankmates
