I'll just called it a mostly biotope. I have floating fern, and there's a TON of it, so they should be okay in that. I was looking at both African Dwarf Frogs or some sort of shrimp, and I guess if anything I'm going to have to go with shrimp since I don't really forsee ADFs hanging upside down in my plants to escape from my rams. : /

lol the shrimp wont be hanging up side down (so make sure the floating plants grow in a thick clump) they will be living inside the plant clump and must be walled off well by plant material from the outside where the rams can reach.

So that's a definitive 'no' to ADFs? Hmm. That's okay.

As far as shrimp in the plants, I know the rams probably could swim to the top of the tank, but they wouldn't, right?

I would guess that some organisms would fare better than others, but I'm going to say no overall since liverock is inhabited by saltwater creatures.

I agree with Ryan.

Announcement...Aidan, my orange VT betta boy, died yesterday morning (Loki, his tankmate, got through the divider and beat him up pretty badly, but he was looking thin and not eating before that even). So, this means that as soon as I get a heater for the 10gal, Emmett is getting the 10gal and Loki is moving to the 6gal FBH (I need a heater because I loaned my nice VisiTherm heater to my friend who had an ich outbreak in her tank and she didn't have a heater for the tank...my VisiTherm is my only heater for my smaller tanks that is adjustable). Here's hoping I get the supervisor job at Goodwill this week so I can get the heater sooner rather than later.

I am also CONSTANTLY amazed at what people will put into tanks! This looks like it's maybe a 2gal hex...with SEVENTEEN FISH!!!

Are bolivians more docile than german blues and as easy to breed? I'm looking for something that is going to do okay with my corydoras.

cherry shrimp are different than ghosts, because their eggs dont hatch into planktonic larva, they hatch into miniature shrimp. you will actually see newly hatched babies, and those have a good chance of surviving if cover is provided, unlike ghost shrimp babies that just float in the water column, invisible to the naked eye. therefore cherry shrimp in a tank have the potential to multiply successfully much better than ghost shrimp. both shrimp will reproduce equally well I think in a large warm water pond.
