When your LFS gives you some sort of parasite with your new fish :(

I lost two rams (the third one is looking pretty bad as well), the loach, and one of my platies. :(
I'm treating with what was available at Walmart, which is a Jungle brand anti-fungal tab, and I have anti-bacterial and anti parasite medicated foods on the way in the mail.
I thought stuff was going a little bit too well for too long...

It is too bad, but atleast I still have one. He already looks better since I added the medicine tonight. I'll just keep him and maybe get another later.

Always use a QT tank! Even a 5gallon bucket running a small filter with frequent water changes will work in a pinch. I have several 14 gallon 'totes' that I've used in the past.

Sorry to hear of your losses.

I have a 7.25g clear tub and something like a 20-gal orange tub ready to go if it's needed. Foam filter is running backup in my 29 Gal, keeping its cycle. Amen to plastic tubs OC.

Sorry about your loss Ryanoh. Dying fish suck, especially when it's the LFS' fault.

Yeah, that seemed like the cheapest way to go. Is there a brand you guys trust for being made from safe materials?

I haven't talked to them about it, but they weren't even willing to take back one of the fish I bought from them a few days after it started showing aggression. They're an okay pet store, but they need someone who knows a bit more about fish...

Is it fair to expect the LFS to take responsibility for fish death from a parasite? I have the same problem, and when I called the LFS they just said "We have medicine for that!" (even though research indicated they didn't). I also don't have a quarantine tank.
Sorry to hear about the dead ram, but at least the other one is doing better.

I'm not sure if its fair to blame them or not, I'm not mad at them about the parasite so much. I guess I did expect them to take a fish back when I called and said "hey, these two are going to kill each other if I keep them in my tank," and their response was "we'll sell you another one" though. Like I said, they're okay, and they haven't been open that long, so hopefully they'll get it together the longer they're around.

sorry to hear about your loss... that really sucks. I'm not planning on adding anything else to my tanks, but will def be using a quarentine tank from now on.

I didn't really look at the timeline of this string, but how are your fish doing now? I hope they continue to pull through.

As of right now I'm still waiting on some medicines to come in the mail, but I'm treating with what I can get. My lone ram is still alive, and he seems like he has his ups and downs through out the day. He's been spending most of his time sitting around, but he did eat yesterday so that's a good sign. All the other fish in the tank seem fine, so maybe I was able to treat before whatever he has spread?

Scratch that, my girlfriend just called from home saying that he died today. :(
I still hope I can clear up whatever's going on before anything happens to the rest of my fish.
