Ok, thanks!

Yess!!!! Today I picked up a heater, some gravel, and a filter (penguin 200). Now all I need is a stand, then I can start cycing! I'm going to do a fishless cylcle, so when I'm putting ammonia in the tank, how much and often should I put it in?

nah.. just find out how much it takes to get that much... and then every morning just test to see where its at and then add accordingly... at first you need to test often to see how much you need, waiting a while after adding it to allow for mixture

Sorry everyone, the stand is taking longer then planned :( I don't know how long it will be at this point, but I can assume withing the next month. I have all my gravel and filtration and heating ready to go when I set it up. Just wanted to give this thread a little bump so I don't lose it.

I have another question. If I were to decide to just move my 15 gallon inhabitants to the 30 instead of setting up a whole other community, could I simply move the filters and decor, and bag the gravel in pantyhoes to let it sit in the tank to get an instant cycle? I would then move the fish and plants. Suggestions?

yes that will work, the bacteria is in the filter, if you just move the filter you should have an instant cycle, OR you can just take the dirty pads out swish them in the water and keep the filter on the old tank then you have 2 cycled tanks :)

Alright thank :)

The day has finally come! welk, yester day was that day, but whatever. I gave up on the person making the stand and just when out and bought one, so its allset up on the stand, and I'm filling it a little at a time. Theres about 10 gallons in there, and I'm going to put in about eight more tonight, and run the filters, then tommorow, I'll tranfer everything (water, fish filters, decor, ect) and get it up and running, I'll get some pics up eventually too!

Cool! What did you decide on for additional stocking?
Thanks!:) Eh, I'm not really sure yet. I'm definately going to add to the cory school,I might give the oto a few buddies too. I'm going to let the endler and RCS population increase, but thats all I really know for now. Any recomendations?

Oh ya, and also the tank is up and running as of now, with fish and plants and filters ect. I'll try to get some pictures up either tonight or in the next few days, but it looks pretty nice, considering I just put random plants in where they fit, some didn't even fit so they are floating at the top. Again, reccommendations are welcome!!

Pictures are finally here! They were just taken as I added more water and decorations and plants. This is probably going to be my favorite setup ever! It looks really natural, even before I've done any plant trimming to make them look good!

Well, its been a few months since I set up my precious 30 gallon, so I though I might just throw a few recent pictures for kicks. You can tell the water is stained from the wood, but I actually kind of like it. Comment? Thanks for looking!

Added note: The hornwort was only a small 5 inch stem when I put it in, and in the picture you see what is left after I removed half of it, so that stuff grows fast!

And yes, I do know it looks like a jungley mess. (I don't think jungley is a word) :)

Thanks!

Well, I decided it looks too messy so last night I spent about 3 hours taking the plants out, sorting out the keepers, and redoing the tank. It looks a lot more spacious, but I'm hoping the right corner will grow out into a thick jungle. All the fish were excited and swimming around all over so I think they enjoyed the change! 001.jpg 002.jpg 003.jpg 004.jpg
