i just bought 8 cardinal tetras and introduced them into my 12 gl tank and im just wondering why dont you see many of them in lfs yet you see loads of neon tetras because cardinal tetras are even more beautiful. just a thought
I have neons in my 10g tank. Is there much difference between the species? They appear to look the same, with maybe the Cardinals having a deeper coloring.
Cardinals have a reputation for being quite a bit hardier than Neons. Visually they are obviously very similar fish. I suspect the average fishkeeper wouldn't notice any differences at a glance.

there are two main differences one is the size cardinal tetras are bout half the size of neon's and yes cardinal tetras have more vibrant color than neon's. i have 8 cardinal tetras in my tank and i love em so much
Yeah. I love my neons. They're really funny to watch when they feed. They dart around and almost literally bounce off the walls. It's like I had dumped caffeine in there with the food.
yeah i now what you mean my cardinals grab some food dart to the bottom then dart back up to get some more and they carry on doing this till they are full
