Hi everyone, I need some new decorations! I have a few danios and goldfish and need a cave or some other decorations. Could you guys tell me some good ones that you have or whatever and where to get them? Preferrably with links. :) Thanks.. BTW - Im looking for just general decorations. Not necessarily just goldfish ones, but ideally for them

The terra cotta pots are good. I have heard some are using the fake plants from craft stores - I would certainly wash & rinse them well. You can also get plastic grass mats and floating plastic plants at your LFS. You can attach a vine through the opening in the hood or stick the end of it in a cork or some such floating thing. Get on line for Petco or Petsmart or any of the fish stores and look at their decor for ideas

Ps- goldfish are child water fish and famous are tropical. While they can survive together for a time, they likely won't both thrive, and the one in the less-desirable temp will probably die sooner rather then later. If you have the means, separate them and get them to their particular specs (danios often require a heater to keep water around 72-76 degrees... Goldfish prefer it in the 60' a I believe... )
Please show off whatever you end up getting for decor :)

Well, that's funny, because all of my danios and goldfish have been around for a little over 2 years now, so I think they've been okay so far? :)

MdngtRain, lol!! I hate it when that happens. I type in understand and it gives me hedgehog. I've learned to proof read carefully, only I don't always catch everything all the time. :p

tbe, I think that they will be fine. I temporarily put a heater in my goldfish tank so my otos could snack in there. When they were done, I moved them back. Plus, zebra danios are hardy and adaptable. People have successfully kept and bred them in outdoor ponds, so I think that they will be fine with the goldfish.

Danio rerio, if a natural fish (not one of the man-made varieties like the "leopard danio") do fine in cold water. They need warmer (tropical levels) water if you want to breed them, but in their native rivers, they live in water that gets in the 60s with no problems.

The artifiically created 'ornamental' versions of the D. rerio are not as hardy in cooler waters.
