I'm going to get a labyrinth fish for my 10g, but I'm trying to decide if I should get another betta or go with a male Dwarf Gourami (something I've never had before). I'm going to be putting him with my Kuhlis and Zebra Danios. Another question though, can I keep more than one Dwarf Gourami together??

I am always going to say betta. But I don't know about the zebra danios AND a betta...from what I have read, they are not so great together. Fast fish+really slow fish with long fins=unhappy slow fish (betta). But if you have had it work before, than I would say get a betta and keep it simple with something that you have kept before. Just make sure you have hiding places that he can be in. :)

I have never kept a gourami, going to leave that for someone else...:)

I'm going to hazard not keeping more then one make gourami. I have a m/f pair, and even they seem to need more space... I vote gourami (just to give you opposing votes ;).) Tho I'm hesitant about that because (my personal preference) is something larger then a10 even for a dwarf. Do your research on then, then decide. :)

Lol I have a male powder blue dwarf gourami and a female red flame dwarf gourami. I've been trying to get them to breed for the last week, but no such luck. They're still great fish anyway. I think you should always explore new things when it comes to fishkeeping. :)

Yeah. I'm going to Walmart and they have Dwarf Gouramis and Bettas. I might get a Dwarf Gourami, but they always look bad. Maybe I can stick him in my 2.5 (remove the current fish in there) and see how he does. Walmart has a 7 (or 14 I forget) day warranty. I'm gonna pick the most active and colorful one I can find. If I can't find a suitable Gourami, then I'm going with a male Cambodian Betta. The only thing is that the DG is $7 while the Betta is $3. o_O

Ok guys. I just went to Walmart and I was expecting to see some not so great fish, but take a chance. They had 1 male Dwarf Gourami left and his colors are just stunning. He's active and I took a video of him. I'm still acclimating him, so that's why he's in the cup. I want to know what type of DG he is though. Petsmart has one that is called Starfire that looks like him, but I want to know for sure. I want to come up with a name for this unique guy too. Maybe Crimson Skies. Here's the video.

Thanks, Kerry. I like the commons the best. I'd rather have a nice balance of blue and red then just one color or more of one color than the other. Anywho, this morning I opened up my flake food to feed him and he started squirting water at me!! So I decided to put flakes right above the water level and I took this video.

OC, I know that they do that, but thanks for the info. I found a ladybug in the tank and got it out before he could eat it I don't know how it got in there, let alone the house. It's winter. Haha.

FlameTetra, I'm getting some duckweed from kenny, what other other common plants can I use so he can make a bubble nest?? My betta always used to make one in the corner. Can I use a plastic plant??

I think dwarf gouramis will uproot small plants like HC and maybe java moss. Pretty much anything small can be used for the bubble nest. And no, plastic plants won't be used for the nest.

Well, he hasn't been making bubbles like bettas, but he's been grabbing my java moss and spitting it at the surface. It keeps falling down and he keeps chasing after it. I have java fern, amazon sword, and wisteria, but he hasn't messed with it. He just swims around it.

I'll throw in a plastic floating plant and see what happens.
