I got my Neons today, except for the biggest one (I've had him for a year now and his buddies died, so I got more), and one of them keeps twitching. It's like someone who is beginning to learn to drive and keeps accelerating and braking quickly. There's another one that hides all the time and the smallest one sticks with the biggest one. And mind you, it's night time so I just turned on the lights, that's why they're pale and sluggish.

Stocking:
-1 Dwarf Gourami
-4 Zebra Danios
-3 Black Kuhli Loaches
-3 Banded Kuhli Loaches
-4 Neon Tetras
-2 Otocinclus
-2 Nerite Snails (also new)

If you know what might be wrong with my Neon, please tell me. Thanks!!

Here's a video.

No, the fish wasn't twitching when I bought it. All of the others are fine. I acclimated them the same as always. Let the bag float and every 5-10 minutes add a tablespoon if my water in the bag until it doubles. Then I net the fish out and throw away the water. I'm suspicious of my water though. I watched the manager test it (with liquid test) and everything was zero. The last time I did a water change was 10 days ago. I don't know how my nitrates could be zero. It was like that in ALL of my tanks. I'm kinda concerned.

No. cuz someone else came in and had a reading of 0 ammonia and something like 10 nitrites and 40 nitrates cuz they were cycling their tank. I forget the numbers exactly though.

I think probably the manager has used that liquid test over and over until it has expired.
If it was an API Master Freshwater test kit, the reagents are good for 5 years, and the bottles are marked with a code that show the month and year of its making. This information was given to me via email from the Technical Service and Research of Mars Fishcare, the manufacturer.

I doubt a pet store would still have a kit around 5 years later, but I guess its possible. If used once a day, the kit would last a bit over 2 years as each does about 800 tests.

Another good reason to have your own kit. You will know when your kit is not reliable.

Thanks OC. I went back and it is an API Master. I also checked the water again, and since adding the new fish, it's at 10. I'm doing a water change when I get home.
