What does 'fine' mean regarding your water quality? Can you give exact readings for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?
I bought the tank used 8 month ago and kept the half the old water for the nitrogen cycle. The ph runs at 7.4 steadilly. I take the water in periodically to get tested and did with my problems. the pet store just says the water is fine and is not the problem. I need to get my own test eguiptment but have put it off since these are my very first fatalitys. The two adult yo yo's both died since my post. I had them 7 month, They were 4 " long and never had a problem until I put the 3 baby yo yo's in. It's a 60 gallon with 3 tetras 3 minni guramis and two small sterbas cory catfish. I 25 % water change every two weeks and filter changes in between. Water temp 78. They were always agressive but we never saw signs of fighting after the 3 babys were put in. By the end the red sores looked more like mutalations but we could see it progress in about a 48 hour period. We have a abundace of trumpet snails and the fish were all well fed. I know , problably to much. None of the other fish seem to be affected Thanks for your concern

I'm assuming you didn't quarantine the new loaches. Because they're wild-caught, it's common for them to bring in all kinds of strange diseases.

I recommend treating the tank with Maracyn Plus or another broad-spectrum antibiotic, as it sounds like a bacterial infection.

Hopefully, it will cure whatever it is, but there's no guarantee.

I highly recommend quarantining any wild-caught loaches for a minimum of eight weeks, and longer if possible.
