Tropical fish rainbow shark

Hey peeps I have recently bought 1 rainbow shark n he just sits at the bottom of the tank under the piece of bogwood its a 4ft 100 litres with 25 swordtails tht I have bred and a super red bristlenose pleck all the water levels are ok tested with the api freshwater test kit

Keep an eye on him. He may just be shy. When I first bought my red tail shark all he did was hide.

How many days has he been in his new home?

Like FD says, maybe he just needs to get comfortable with the new surroundings.

What are the actual readings for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?

100 liters is a small volume of water for this fish in my experience.

He has still got nice bright colours and I have only had the rainbow shark for 4 days I'll keep a good eye on him

The nitrite and ammonia levels are 0ppm and the nitrate levels are between 40-60ppm. I reckon I could also add another 20 litres of water before its up to the condensation tray. Should I fill it that high?

Personally I would try to keep those nitrates lower.

The nitrate readings are 0, 5, 10, 20, 40, 80 on the API test kit. In my experience, water quality is best when the nitrates are kept no higher than 20ppm.
