Are there any plecos who would live healthy in a 10 gallon tank for their whole lives? Ive heard about a bushynose pleco or a pitbull pleco.

Thanks,
charlie

Sorry guys, but I respectfully don't agree. Ottos do not get very large at all - probably no more than two inches. The first ones I got were in a 2 1/2 g tank with my betta and it is now 3 years later and I still have them although they have moved up to the 10g but they are no longer, just a little fatter. The big thing is they need to have a source of algae so you don't want to put them in a new tank and even after - depending - you may have to feed them some algae wafers or as OC, does, grow some algae logs.

I'm guilty of referring to LiveAquaria for a lot of info too. I wonder if they recommend 30G minimum for ottos, plecos and corys not so much for the room, but so they can feed properly? If you take steps to make sure you feed them properly, maybe they're OK in smaller tanks.

My three otos have been fine in my 10g tank FWIW. They are definitely not bottom feeders - they are all over the tank. I can see why OC is fascinated with them! I have two spotted cories and although they are suppose to be bottom feeders, I find them on all the other surfaces also.
