what bothers me googirl is your straight measurement of the front is longer than you bent measurement and that is impossible - a curve would make it longer. But if I take the basic measurement before bowing the front out it is 8" X 13" by 12 " high and that would make it a 5 gallon tank with a little left over for the curve in the front so I will have to guess it is a 5 gallon tank until it is fill to the brim and them it might be as much as 6 gallon.
I wouldn't consider the betta bowl a "tank" and I don't think your betta would be happy going from a large space to a smaller space. Most bowls don't even hold a gallon. Have you measured it? You can easily do that by taking an empty milk container or a measuring cup 16 cups equal a gallon. I honestly don't see where this would solve your space issues.
I guess I still wouldn't go backward with my betta. But perhaps we are putting the cart before the horse - you aren't sure you have a pregnant female and if she is not pregnant, she certainly won't get pregnant by herself. You have said she is rather small so her chances of 35 or 40 fry is slim when and if she does get pregnant. Although I still don't think you have the facilities for raising mollies; I would consider putting the betta with the danios in the bowfront and keeping the 3 mollies in the 10g.
All I can say is you aren't set up for the fish you already have and have no room for more. I take it all three of those females died and so the fish you have now are ones you raised from the fry. You really have no way of knowing how many fry each actually had, only the total. Were those females full size or close? Perhaps the female you have now is too immature to be pregnant. You have three mollies each in approximately 5 gallons and one has a betta and 2 danios in with it. You have been at this now for well over a year and really nothing has changed - you don't have room for more fish and I remember you were going to get another hamster so you couldn't free up the 55g tank, but although I've never had a hamster, I certainly wouldn't want to put one in a 10g tank. Maybe you could trade the hamster for some equipment so you could free up the 55g tank.
I was a 4-h leader, too, but what bothers me about Googirls attitude is her comment that the hamster is way more important than any "lame" fish. IMO than she shouldn't have fish at all. She apparently doesn't have the interest, time or resources to treat them humanely. I tried, but obviously failed.
if i were to have a fish die which well i had a tank die recently. it don't effect me emotionally. i have no emotional ties to my fish. BUT i do have respect for their lives and as such i try to give them the nicest home that i can. i'm responsible for well at least 100 lives. and thus i should act as so.
Thyra I don't think you failed at anything. She is young, predictably stubborn and bored. You notice that the last time we heard from her was around winter break, now this is spring break.
Exhumed, again I totally agree. I am much more into the 'science' of fish keeping I guess you could say. I have never been a pillar of animal rights activism, but my wife has a saying that I think rings true for everyone's attutude toward animals. She says that treating animals with kindness and respect is what makes us human.

I hunt, i take many animal lives a year. but i still respect the animals. i am not out there for the thrill to kill. i'm out there to enjoy nature and be closer to the animals. it's amazing to have a doe and her yearling fawns 15 yards away in thier natural environment and have them not even know u are there. getting into starring contests with squirrels on a branch 5 feet away. seeing turkies grazing across a field. i have respect for all those animals and enjoy every moment i get to watch them. and i think the same way about my fish. i enjoy and respect all of my fish. wish some other people thought the same way. they are living animals that require your care for their lives.
