Got some new cichlids, thought I'd share...

Sunshine Peacock
Dragon blood Peacock
Williamsi (Male)
Boreleye, still to young to determine sex
Phenchilus (Male) - This guy is really cool. The shop had a full grown one in the display and I said "gimme one of those!"

I also wanted to add another Syno Cat (have two already) so the shop recommended a hybrid that has leopard print pattern on it. Very cool looking.

Introduction has been smooth so far. The dragonblood, who is the smallest is sort of banished in the upper corner of the tank. Perhaps a little stressed but in tact.

Of course as I am writing this they are all hiding so I don't have any photos, but I'll add them later.

Thanks for looking.

Heck no, its a seashell substrate. Sand no more, never again. In that one photo with the williamsi, he is above a rock with some algae on it. I'm extremely happy with this substrate. Its coarse enough that I don't get any anaerobic bacteria, but the cichlids can still move it around. Plus it keeps the Ph at a steady level. And doesn't really harbor algae like that marble from Home Depot. Again sorry for that reco freshy.

LOL!! Yeah that stuff was a nightmare 'till the plants took over in my 55g. Now that the light getting down to the substrate is massively filtered, the algae mostly died off. Even so, if/when I need to break-down the 55, the marble chips are going to be used as fill somewhere.
