I was wondering if I could put some gouramis in my 10g with two Julii Corys. What are some types of gouramis can I put in the tank? How many? I was thinking about putting some honey gouramis in, but I have heard that they are really difficult to take care of, is this true?
Dwarf gouramis would be fine for your tank. Other species of gourami become large. If you get them when they are still small, and plan on getting a larger tank within a year before they grow out of the 10 gal. you could probablly go with any. Like beaver said I'm not sure how easy honey gouramis are to look after but the goldens are very easy to take care of, mine have survived three different diseases in my tank and they dont get harrased by others as they are rather agressive themselfs.
yeah I got 2 gold gouramies and 1 red dwarf and there is a lot of 3-way battles going on, but no harm no foul. I would get a pair of red dwarf gouramies if I had to do it all over again(Wormo3188)
Gouramis are very boisterous when it comes to territory battles
larger gold gouramis + smaller gouramis = lil fishies getting attacked 24/7 (my own golden one attacks the small platnium ones) ~_~
Gold Goura's are VERY picky about their tank mates you might as well have what you have because they can grow out of a 10 gal. Tank
My Golden one is in a 10g as well ^_^` I need a bigger tank
So what is the deal with the honey gouramis, I have had dwarfs, but I wanted to try something new. What is so different about the honey gourami's compared to regular gourami's? Are there any differences in keeping them? Are there any tankmates that they can go with, lets try to stay on topic this time, thanks.
Well I'll answer the question if no one else will. Honeys are no harder than dwarfs. Go ahead and get a male and two or three females. Now how does anyone keep 3 golden gourami in a 10 gal? Are we talking about the blue gourami morph or a dwarf gourami morph? I assume it's the blue and those and easily reach 5 or 6 inches.
For your 10 gallon I would suggest 2 dwarf gouramis and 2 corys. And thats it.
I know you want more but for that tank size it will be full. If you add more than that story you heard of them being hard to take care of will be true.
Kivor, your probably going to want to upgrade to a larger tank soon, gold and blue gouramis can get pritty big, and I'm sure you know how big plecos get.
Well, I'm a beginner and I loved the Gouramis. I have 2 blue and 2 gold and a red tailed shark in a 5 gallon right now. Realized how big they can get at the local pet shop and so im bumping up to a 10 gallon soon for the rest of the year. Right now the bluye gouramis are only at 2" and the gold are smaller yet at 1-1.5". Either way, I think they'll be fine ina 10 gal for a year til I can afford a 50 gal. or so.

It really depends on what kind of gouramis they are. If they are dwarfs, you should be ok, but you are really limited about what else you could add to your tank. Some gourami species get well over one foot in length.
