lots of people use it on nano-reef.com and they have beautiful tanks. The main reason carbon can be bad is if you leave it in too long, it runs out and expels nitrates. Chemipure lasts about 4-6 months as opposed to 2-4 weeks with regular carbon.

cool, thanks for the quote on the ballatopia. two more noob questions for ya: how much noise does the aquapod make? i ask this since i am planning on putting it next to my bed. also, if i were to move in a year, how hard would it be to move a 12G saltwater tank once it's established with me say 200 miles away?

during the day when you have the white light on, theres a fan running that's not too bad. When you turn it off at night the fan goes off and you can't hear a thing. Moving an established SW tank would seem like a tough task. I've never done it but moving corals, live rock, fish, inverts would scare the crap outta me.

ok so I got my CUC about a week ago. It consists of 1 fairly big turbo snail(from my 2.5g), 5 small blue leg hermits, 2 astreas, and 2 nassarius snails. Hopefully the lfs still has the black perc I plan on getting by the time i'm ready for fish. Heres a pic of the great job the CUC is doing

ok so it seems the diatoms have stopped leaving that thick slime on the sand. I got a card in the mail from one of the better lfs over here saying that they have a 20% off everything sale. I figured that would be a good excuse to pick up that black perc........sadly he was sold. I glanced at the lineup of 4 mandarins.......yeah I know what all of you are thinking. The guy fed frozen brine to all of them in front of me and they loved it. So I thought to myself, I could put all the pods in my 2.5g to some use. I dont know where they are coming from but they are running rampant in my 2.5g. I said what the hell, i'll give it a try. Here he/she is, pecking at stuff around the tank as we speak. wish me luck.

couple updates. Everything in the 2.5 is now in here. I will get a pic soon. One thing that is killing me is I cant find the mandarin AT ALL. I've checked literally EVERYWHERE. There's nothing in the tank that could eat him(except the mushroom but theres no way it could have eaten it) and i've never heard or seen mantis activity. I sifted through most of the sand and found nothing. He wasnt in the chambers or on the floor. Its really pissing me off. He was eating like crazy and my nitrates dont go over 5ppm. so lame......

Theres holes in the rocks but he's been missing for 2 days now. Not even a trace left behind if the CUC did eat it. I would move the rocks around but I dont wanna mess the whole thing up. guess i'll have to move the top rocks so i can see better in the back tomorrow. ........sigh

He could always be hiding out, do you have any animals in your house that could have gotten to him if he fell on the floor? cats, dogs? hope he turns up.
