Well, it seems that I've been converted to the "Dark Side" ;)
I just set up a 5gal nano tonight, its going to be FOWLR until probably around the summer time when I upgrade lighting to do soft corals.
Heres the equipment and such I got on this badboy...
5gal standard tank
Instant Ocean SaltMix
Hydrometer
Aqua-Clear 15-20 HOB Filter
Aqua-Clear Powerhead (cant think of rating right now)
50 watt Heater
Aragonite Substrate

I dont have any LR yet, I should be getting about 5 pounds of that on Sunday if all goes well.

And now for the questions ;)

What fish would work in this tank?
How many snails and shrimps etc should I get?
I really want a cleaner shrimp, would that work?

Thats all the questions I can think of right now...
Thanks!! :D

My brother has a 5g nano, and he has 2 snails, a zebra hermit in there. He did have a cleaner shrimp at one point, but it died about a week later. He is thinking about a Royal Gramma or possibly a Firefish. I don't know if I helped or not but just some suggestions:D

Good Luck!

Just remember that if you want a firefish, you'll have to make sure the tank is well covered, as they're famous for jumping.
especially in that small of a tank i had one jump outa my 10..i got one in my 55 now with no problems though :p

Well Im getting frustrated! LOL
The tank is extremely cloudy, looks like a big ol 5gal tank of milk.
I got the HOB and powerhead running, is that slowing down the process of the sand settling? Also, there is the sand, then on top of the sand is what looks like a fine layer of sand dust...That'll go away right? Its kinda ugly...
So basically, should I just let the tank sit for a few more days?

You're gonna need a lot more patience if you hope to make this tank successful :D You only set it up less than a day ago!

Good things in saltwater happen over weeks and months. Give it time, let it settle, don't get so impatient :)

Wait for a few days.

Let the tank sit for a couple of days, you could go out and buy the liverock right now if you wish too. But once you have the liverock then the waiting game begins.

Yeah I think ill be going to the LFS tomorow to see what LR they have, and if they have anything nice I'll pick it up.
Is there anything specific I should be looking for? I know cured LR is best, but what should the peices look like? Colourful? Pourus? (sp)
