Just the one 15watt bulb in my 5gal betta tank. heats the whole thing. stays at a constant 81 degrees, goes down to 75 at night when the light is off, if u really wanna heater, for $15 at WM they have the 5-15 ones, fully submergable and adjustable, i got one in my 10gal, works great.

Yeah, don't get this 7 watt that we have been talking about here. IT really isn't all that great. I haven't even been using mine for the last week.

The colored ones would be for someone who well...just wants colored light. Never could see the point in that.

Incandescent is a normal screw in bulb. The problem with them on tanks is something like 90% of the energy used is converted to heat (they get hot) so they tend to over heat small tanks.

Any submersible 25W should do. The 50w from wally world are a little big for my likings on a tank that small, but even those will work.

I actually like the heaters at walmart. They seem to be of good quality. Haven't had one fail on me yet. The best part is...since it's wallyworld if it ever does. I can take it back and get a new one. Gotta love their return policy. A friend of mine returned a burnt out plasma ball that was over 4 yrs old..no questions asked. LOL
