Here it is !! Dont mind the cloudy water, I added the sand last night and have been arranging rockwork. What do you think?

looks good from what I can see through the haze...hehe what kind of sand did you use and what are the dimensions of the tank, it looks very tall to me, but it may just be me...

it looks pretty good now, and it will look better once the haze clears! i just set up my 35 gal with a sand bottom, i lucked out because it didnt get hazy, no fish in it yet though.

Nice tank, accuclear might work for that haze.
I changed the gravel in my 77 and now it's hazy. I might have to use it too.

Well, when I woke up this morning, my Fluval had taken most of the haze out. So it looks pretty nice.

I'll be planting it pretty heavily with some C02 but my LemonFin Barb keeps eating them.

What kinds of plants? If you have plant eaters consider anubias. Some types of apons are fish resistant too...I think. Looks good. You don't see a whole lot of barb tanks around, at least I don't. Way to be original =).

Can't wait to see the tank when everything is cleared up. I like the way you have it set up. Ive always wanted to use sand, but the only thing I am wondering about is when you do the weekly vacuuming, soes the water get all cludy again from the sand, or is this just a one time cloudy deal?

It'll be a one time cloudy deal usually. I bought 40 lbs of Playsand at Canadian Tire for $3.44.. make sure it's not fine fine grain sand. Mine is just smaller sized than a pea.

I put 25% of it in a bucket and rinsed it out well, and stirred it up with my hands until the water flushing out was clear, or mostly clear.

I just dumped it all in, and it was faintly cloudy, like you see in the pictures. But it wasn't terrible. Each time you do a gravel clean it'll get less and less cloudy as the small particles are sucked up.

In my old 33 gallon, I had used Reptisand which is very very fine, like beach sand fine. It was terrible to clean, and when I finally took it out of my 33g, it had a thick black layer of dead plant and fish waste. I'll never use that find sand again.

Just a Fluval 404 with 4 mechanical sponges, one bag of carbon and 4 baskets of Biomedia.

It's a 48x16x24 Rimless aquarium made to fit the Hagen line of "Light-Glo" light hoods. It's a double fluorescent canopy with a 40w Floura-Glo and a 40w Life-Glo bulb.

My filter is a Fluval 404 canister (I have a spare Fluval 204 I might add later on tonight).

It's heated by a Tronic 200w sensor heater.

I'll be adding C02 units later either homemade or storebought, i'm not sure which yet.

And a Beech stand.

I got it for $150 because I get cheap prices where I work. I spent about $450-$500 total for everything.
