Well, it is done. I have purchased the tank for my new 90g reef. It is an All-Glass Reef Ready tank. I am working on a stand at the moment and planning equipment so over the next couple months things should begin to shape up in terms of actually getting the tank going.

I have decided to log the process on a website (not here) which will be in my signature. I would appreciate your thoughts on the website at this point and obviously I will be sharing my progress as I move along.

Well...it is a long way down the road. Granted, I will be re-using my LR from the 55g so that will be pretty much a switch and go thing in terms of bacterial readiness, but the stand and plumbing is at least a month away I would imagine and I will be out of town for a couple weeks in August so nothing will get done then...

This will be fun to watch Camaro, best of luck. Also really liked the layout of the website with the specific breakdown of links to the tank, skimmer, etc and the detail looks like it is going to be very gelpful to aot of people.

Hey all...just an update:

Things are moving along relatively quickly. The stand is almost done and I have purchased the sump. I decided to go with a TRUVU 180 rather than build my own (living in an apartment would have made it inconvenient). If any of you have checked out Johnny's blog on the front page you might remember his power strip. I got the same thing (though without the glow in the dark switches) for my power control. It is a Chauvet PC-08.

Next step is to order the skimmer and finish the stand. Then it is time to start plumbing! Woot.

Just checked out your site and it is looking great! Can't wait to see the whole thing set up together. That power strip is interesting and a great idea......thinking here....hmmmm ..

I too have been checking out your page, I agree with Lorna, I may look into one of those "Power strips" also :)

I use something similar on my Bass Guitar rig. It's made by Furman (Called a RackRider) It uses the same "Rack" setup that your power strip uses (17" width), except I only have 1 master on/off, not multiple. But I never thought to use something like that on my tanks......cool idea!!

Nice looking site you have there and no problems on FF whatsoever.

I like the look of the Chauvet too, handy bit of kit. The idea of using eggcrate is a good one, you need something to stop direct contact of rock on glass.

Just an update:

The cabinet doors came while I was out of town. When I got back Friday we tested them out and decided to change out the hinges for fully adjustable European hinges (they came with horizontally adjustable hinges). That was completed Sunday. I began staining everything today. Hopefully the stand will be completely stained and eurethaned by Wednesday. I have to help someone move Thursday, but if all goes well I will get the stand to my apt and the tank moved on Friday, spend the weekend plumbing, and then begin testing everything out.

I also ordered the AquaC EV-180 today. It arrives this week sometime.

Stand is done!

I will do the dry plumbing and testing with the tank located here for easy access. I will then move the stand and tank in to place (hopefully this weekend) and begin the process of mixing water and filling the tank.
