About to bloom!

Ah, I see. Mine has perked out of the water this time. But it's pretty small and is just a little pronged bloom. The first one was a lot bigger, but either way *excited*

This is as much as it bloomed (2nd photo) before it started to decay :/ I wonder if it didn't fully grow because I don't use ferts? I'm not really sure...

Still pretty and still must have been healthy to make such a long stem and then bloom a bit!

It started to decay, slowly turned brownish yellow and thin. I didn't cut it the shrimp like to pick at it and sometimes the nerite snail. If it were a larger plant, I'd move it out so as to not have a bunch of decaying material in there..

The old bloom/stem is still dying off, bit by bit. I looked today and I have three new leaves growing in and ANOTHER bloom. *Squee!*

I'm not sure if it will go all the way, because the one that had bloomed was actually the 2nd bloom. The first one seemed to stunt in growth, the 2nd one came and bloomed, now it's decaying and there is a 3rd sprout!

Let's hope this one blooms all the way

(edit) I snapped some photos really quick:
In the first photo you can see the old stem going off towards the left, towards the heater/spray bar area and the new one shooting up dead center.

Bummer

The latest bloom sprouted and grew MUCH faster than the last. Last night it was half way out of its little green casing, getting ready to bloom the white flower bit.

I accidentally broke the stem in half

I left it in the water for the shrimp and snails to eat as it will eventually decay, also half hoping that some magic will occur and it will be able to still grow/bloom even though it is no longer attached. I know, so hopeful.

Thanks! Even though the stem snapped, I left it in the water and it is still blooming a bit!

Ok, sorry to revive this thread but since it seemed to be about aponogeton's flowering I might as well share some pics since mine flowered again (flowered a few months back too)

I've never seen an Aponogeton throw surface leaves until now...is it something these plants regularly do? like water lilies?

Indeed they do. In Florida (where I spent 14+ years), many are commonly kept in ponds.

A hotel I used to work across the street from had several ponds with them. They put off quite a show when they bloom all at once! Butterflies LOVED it.
