Papa banggai finally gave us some babies. This morning, we found two in one of the anemones, and later on, I found one at the top of the tank. He's still got a bunch in his mouth.

I've since netted the babies and put them in the sump. The baby brine shrimp are set up, and I'm just waiting for them to hatch.

A couple of pics before they went into the sump (one with flash, one without). Look for the black and white stripey things in the anemone!

He released the rest (however many that was) last night. We caught three more this morning, but there are some we can't get to, and I'm guessing a bunch got eaten.

This is the first time we've had fry from him. He's held eggs many times, but never held them to full term.

Ahhh it is a long road to survival. Not trying to dampen your hopes or anything. Out of my batch that made it about 16 I found in the fuge......they all made it about 3 months then one by one some mishap became them.....a couple got sucked into the skimmer ..... ouch.....a few into the return pump and finally the one I that survived more than a year and was about the size of a quarter finally just disappeared, I am not sure what happened to him. The male continues to brood a batch about every other month or so but insists on hanging out by a dinner plate sized bubble tip that has a good feed I think semi monthly.....It would be one thing if he released them during the daytime but I never get there in time......

well feed them the brine for a few days then get them switched to rotifers it is easier....mine didn't mind the switch at all.......they were eventually eating frozen mysis. Try making a diy urchin with toothpicks it will make them feel right at home hiding amongst the toothpick spines.

I have to say, it is pretty amazing when you see the perfect tiny versions of the adults. Definitely some of the cutest fry out there.

I still have the five. I finally got some decent brine shrimp that's hatching, so they're eating well now. I think they've grown, but it's really hard to tell. I bought a new hatcher too, just to try it out. It's pretty good. It's the Hobby one they have at Brine Shrimp Direct | Quality Aquarium Fish Food Products.

the male's mouth is more slanted but at a young age it is really difficult to tell them apart. I would get more than two and when they pair up take the others back.....
