<--beginner rosy barb..how to tell difference female/male?

im not sure if this is correct, but the male rosy has a black dot on their head? im trying to breed them right now in a 2 gallon tank, no heater..with filter and airstone XD, 1 male 1 female rosy in it... i know its kind of small but i've never done this before so im just giving it a try..i bought 12 from the store and when i came home only saw 1 with the black dot on the head..please give tips if u know any thx~

First of wich you need at least 10gs for 2 rosy Barbs as they get to about 4 inches. Second is that they need a heater.

Males have usually a red stomach and then turn a redish purple color when ready to breed. The females are like a bronzey gold color. Both male and female rosy barbs have spots.

Note: I did not mean to sound rude about the 10g thing but its best for your fish!

no probs! thats the honest answer i want from people.. bcuz i just thinking about breeding so was just giving a shot to see.. now i know what to do ill be thinking about it tonite.. thx again!

Oh and when you know your female is ready to breed is when she gets really fat!
