Sorry to hear about your Betta, I hope he pulls through. I had a pregnant guppy go through my gravel vac tube and her little fishy face was smashed - she looked pretty rough - but after a few days of melafix, she pulled through and had her babies. Today she is as right as rain.
Keep us posted on Dago
cheers limi...fantastic support from you all...
i've felt sick now for the past few days...
and today i feel better[ish]...thanks to 'the tank' ...

cool seelie...sounds good...
thanks for the help...much appreciated... !

the melafix says to add to tank daily...
then do a 25% change after seven days...

so i was thinking of doing a 25% tonite...
adding the melafix for the next week [half dose]...
and then another quarter change...

how does that sound ... ?
That sounds good. You're lucky you kept another tank up and ready. You've been right on top of everything and you've done everything right so hopefully it'll all simply turn out to be a learning experience. Dago should like the smaller tank. Is he perking up at all? Keep us updated on Dago, eh?

He would eat them if they are small. If they are large enough I doubt he will be able to catch them. Remember long flowy fins makes a fish slow. There is a reason why I keep super veil angels. ;)

cheers seelie...dago is looking worse i'm afraid...
his fins are 'matted' and his belly has turned silver...

where he had lost a scale on his side...
well...it looks 'furry' there now...
like a small piece of cotton wool poking out...

i've put him in a bag in the little tank...
small amount of water...close to the surface...
as he has trouble reaching air to breathe...
when he swims...he spins...he's out of control...

if i pop him in the fry tank proper...
he sinks and lies on his side...

it's not looking good...i'll watch him for another day...
if there's no improvement...it'll have to be 'adios'...
as it's killing me to see him like this...
and i'm sure he's not feeling good either... :(

thanks for all your help...

Oh no, I'm afraid the 'furry' white area doesn't sound good. Would anyone suggest a salt bath? Or would that be too much stress on the poor guy? I don't have a lot of experience w/ fishy injuries or disease, so I might be totally off base with the salt bath. I wouldn't take my word for it unless someone else agrees. Plus I think there are alot that think salt is useless.....
Sorry that's not very helpful.
