I have 2 males in a divided tank and they are fine. They can see each other through the blue plexi glass divider but are ok. they do flare at each other but all is ok.

Thunder. How long have they been living together?

I do not know about you but I would be uncomfortable letting 2 males live in the same tank regardless of size. What ever you do, I would not show them a mirror, that might change their placid natures towards each other. All it takes is one flare..
